As Operations Director of the Justice Systems Research Team, Maggie Bailey manages the team’s internal operations and collaborates with colleagues to develop and execute stakeholder-engaged research projects. Maggie first joined the organization as a Graduate Research Assistant when it was founded as the Criminal Justice Innovation Lab. After completing her graduate studies, she joined full time as a Project Manager for pretrial and policing projects and was promoted to Assistant Director in 2023. In 2025, she became Interim Director of the Criminal Justice Innovation Lab and led the organization’s transition to the Justice Systems Research Team, stepping into her current role of Operations Director.

Before joining the team, Maggie worked in public health and health policy at county and state levels. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Elon University and holds master’s degrees in public administration and city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
